  • WINGIN' IT: Lazlo Horváth's "Dancing Limpkin" is among the images the nature scenes along the Hillsborough River.

Get a uniquely candid and eloquent view of Florida nature today at HCC-Ybor.

Taking his camera to parks along the Hillsborough River, Lazlo Horváth documents a personal, minimalist study with monochrome videos and digital stills in his show show László Horváth: The Water’s Edge. Also a musician, he has recorded a live soundtrack for the multimedia show.

Horváth calls his solo show an intuitive interpretation of over a year’s adventures and observations kayaking and hiking along the Hillsborough River. The installation will run Feb. 6-28. An opening reception will take place today, 4:30-7:30 p.m. with a gallery talk at 6:15 p.m. The gallery is in the Performing Arts Building at Palm Avenue and 15th Street, Tampa. hcc-fl.edu

WhigFest is an annual art, music and indie commerce festival in St. Pete with national and local headliners (Surfer Blood, Pinback, Stokeswood, Gringo Star, Alexander and the Grapes and Sons of Hi

ppies among them). The St. Pete Indie Market, a craft beer garden from Cigar City Brewing, and an art show will be set up at the event on Feb. 15 and 16. The theme and mascot this year are eagles and America. Last year Pale Horse Design was the headliner for the visual arts component, and this year Bask's art is on the posters and fliers. Whig's headlining artist creates the entire branding for the festival for that year. Artists whose works are on display tonight: Bask, Pale Horse, Tes One, Sebastian Collidge, Johnny Vitale, Chad Mize, STOIC, James Oleson, Thirst, Cheryl Murphy, Laura Spencer, Zulu Painter, Alexander Schultz and Erick Arenas. "The goal of the festival is to make art as loud as the music, hence the branding, live painting and traveling art shows," organizer Tony Casoria said.

Last week the art was unveiled at The Bends with a performance by Sonic Graffiti, and tonight the art show will travel to the Mandarin Hide where local band Heavy Metals (members of Beauvilles, Article 47, Florida Kilos and Sun Signs) will be performing. The art will stay at the Mandarin Hide throughout the festival for viewing and purchase. 8 p.m. 200 First Ave. N., St. Petersburg. facebook.com/TheMandarinHide.
