Do This: Sexy pre-Valentine's fun w/Erotica at MFA and Lust List Party

Two tantalizing, somewhat absurd and totally lusty events get you in the mood for Valentine's Day.

Fasten your teddies, we've got two events with "lust" and "erotica" in the name — in one night!

Our first takes place in St. Pete at the Museum of Fine Arts: An Evening With Venus: Ancient Roman Erotica.

Last year, just before Valentine’s Day, St. Pete art scene regulars, fashionistas, musicians and business owners gathered for an ancient art-erotica-themed soiree fitting for St. Valentine’s week. Special guest Dr. Robert Steven Bianchi, chief curator of the Fondation Gandur pour l’Art/Geneva, spoke on “The Cult of Aphrodite and Greek Erotic Representation” and gave an entertainingly eloquent presentation on the rudimentary pornography of Greek vases and other pottery — replete with dildos, acts of fellatio, anal sex, good ol’-fashioned missionary positions and more.

Dr. Bianchi enjoys traipsing all over sexual taboos and spoke in a delightfully spunky manner. His exclamations recalled Jimmy Durante channeling Gilbert Gottfried.

The ever-animated and impish scholar returns tonight to provide a fun “B.C.-17” lecture with Spathose models (pictured) providing more eye candy.  5:30-9 p.m., Lecture at 7 p.m. Museum of Fine Arts, St. Petersburg, $15.

For the past month, CL readers have been nominating their most cherished lust objects by posting photos with sweet missives to our Facebook page to help compile Creative Loafing Tampa’s 2014 Lust List in celebration of Valentine’s Day.

We got sexy nerds, moms, dads, artists and everyday people who exude beauty and loveableness in their own special ways.

Celebrate these beloved men and women tonight at the Castle during CL’s Lust List Awards Party, where their photos will appear on the big screens, and you can get your endorphins in gear with a lustfully decadent tasting by William Dean Chocolates — plus light bites by Hamburger Mary’s Bar and Grille Tampa. The top man and woman for Readers’ Picks and CL Staff Picks will receive prizes and 10 surprise reader nominees will receive quirky awards that will be announced at the party (Shh — no spoilers!). 8-10 p.m. Thurs., Feb. 13, at The Castle, 2004 N 16th St., Ybor City. $5 cover.
