Tampa Bay Heart Ball and its heart-red MINI

Support our local American Heart Association and possibly even walk away with a chic new ride.

The Tampa-St. Petersburg chapter of the American Heart Association (AHA) has been bringing us the Heart Ball for decades, but this year’s event offers a unique addition to the annual celebration:

A chance to win a trendy 2013 red hardtop MINI Cooper during the Heart Ball MINI Cooper Tour — and with a limited number of tickets offered for a shot to win, the odds are actually pretty decent.

Larry Morgan of Morgan Auto Group and MINI of Wesley Chapel has generously donated the car for the 56th year of the event, and a suggested minimum of $100 puts your name in the drawing – it also gives you an opportunity to support an organization on a mission: “building healthier lives, free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke.”

The MINI is currently touring around the Bay Area, drawing the attention of bystanders at various locations. It’s possible that you could happen upon the modern-classic car by accident, but here are the confirmed stops if you want to track it down:

Mon., March 31 - Collier’s International (311 Park Pl. Blvd., Clearwater), 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

Mon., March 31 - Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar (4322 W. Boy Scout Blvd., Tampa), 5:30-7 p.m.

Tues., April 1 - Vology (4035 Tampa Rd., Oldsmar), noon-1 p.m.

Wed., April 2 - Lykes Gaslight Square Park (410 N. Franklin St., Tampa), 10 a.m.-1 p.m.

Wed., April 2 - Eddie V’s (4400 W. Boy Scout Blvd., Tampa), 5:30-7 p.m.

Thurs., April 3 - The Independent (5016 N. Florida Ave., Tampa), 5 p.m. -7 p.m.

If you can’t seem to catch up to it in person, you can enter by calling Liz Tzinberg at 727-563-8112. Although the winners will be announced at the ball, presence at the event is not required.

The 2014 Tampa Bay Heart Ball is a premier, black-tie optional event hosted at the A La Carte Event Pavilion (4050 Dana Shores Dr., Tampa) from 6 p.m. – 11 p.m., benefiting the American Heart Association and American Stroke Association. Held yearly in celebration of the organization’s work, the event recognizes its countless donors and volunteers, and not to mention the many lives saved and improved as a result of all the efforts; guests who attend will enjoy an elegant evening of fine food, entertainment and a chic atmosphere.  To purchase tickets to the 2014 Tampa Bay Heart Ball, visit tampabayheartball.ahaevents.org.
