Mitch Perry Report 11.13.12 - Susan Rice to replace Hillary as secretary of state?

Today, CBS' This Morning reported that Susan Rice, the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, is President Obama's top choice to replace Hillary Clinton as Secretary of State. (If the report is accurate, this will be a disappointment, no doubt, for John Kerry fans.)

But will he actually put her name into nomination? Rice had a reputation for doing a relatively good job in Turtle Bay, but it's taken a major hit since her multi-show appearance on the Sunday after the deaths of U.S. Ambassador to Libya Christopher Stevens and three other Americans in Libya on Sept. 11. Rice repeated the White House mantra that the deaths occurred because of anger over an anti-Islamic video produced on YouTube.

In retrospect, Rice was obviously wrong. The problem is, neither she nor anyone from the Obama administration has come clean about what happened in Benghazi, which has fueled conspiracy rumors.

President Obama is scheduled to give a press conference (finally!) on Wednesday. Perhaps we'll get more clarity then.

Yesterday in Ybor City, board members with the transit agencies in Hillsborough and Pinellas counties gathered to discuss a proposed merger. A consultant's report shows minimal advantages, and several board members said the whole idea was preposterous.

A downtown Tampa resident faces a fine from her own condo association for holding up a protest sign during the Republican National Convention.

And over the weekend, GOP pollster/language maven Frank Luntz went on Fox News to tell viewers how they were ill-served by the pollsters who filled the airwaves in October and who said Mitt Romney would easily win the presidential race.
