Every weekend there's stand-up comedy happening across the Bay area, from theater shows featuring household names to comedy clubs offering nationally-touring headliners to the local bar or restaurant showcasing local talent. If you want to see comedians performing live, you have a lot of options.

Here are the biggest shows happening through Nov. 24.

Bruce Bruce at Tampa Improv. Bruce Bruce is a big guy with a big personality. By his looks, he could pass for a preacher delivering a serious sermon. Then he starts talking and you hear stories not found inside any church. But there are plenty of funny family stories and audience interaction to keep crowds laughing all weekend long. Showtimes are Friday at 8 p.m. and 10:30 p.m., Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. and Sunday at 7 p.m. The Tampa Improv is at 1600 E. Eighth Ave., at Centro Ybor, Tampa. improvtampa.com or call 813-864-4000.

Sebastian Maniscalco at Side Splitters. The Chicago native has been on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno and had comedy specials air on Comedy Central and Showtime. He'll discuss the peculiarities of his Italian upbringing one moment, and find absurdity in your everyday situations the next — all with a confident demeanor that has made him a popular draw at comedy clubs around the country.
Shows are Thursday at 8:30 p.m., Friday at 8 p.m. and 10:15 p.m. and Saturday at 6 p.m., 8 p.m. and 10:15 p.m. Side Splitters is located at 12938 N. Dale Mabry, Tampa. sidesplitterscomedy.com or call 813-960-1197.

Pete Michaels at Snappers. With Michaels, you get more than a guy with a mic. You get a performer with decades of experience and his entire lineup of puppet characters (including the unusual personalities he gives them). If you like a high-energy set with ventriloquism, he's the guy to check out this weekend. Showtimes are Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m., 36657 U.S. 19 N., Palm Harbor. snappersgrill.com or call 727-938-2027.

David Sayh at Coconuts (St. Pete Beach). Sayh has been doing comedy for so long that his television debut was on The Tonight Show when Carson still sat behind the desk. Over the years he's kept his material clean without compromising his wit and absurd premises. Shows through Saturday are at 9:30 p.m. Coconuts is located at 6200 Gulf Blvd., at the Beachcomber Resort, St. Pete Beach. coconutscomedyclubs.com or call 727-360-5653.

Steve Sabo at Coconuts (Jack's Joint) — With more than two decades in the business under his belt, he's been seen on networks like HBO and Comedy Central, and performed in front of everybody from troops in Iraq to the annual Gathering of the Juggalos. His high energy observations are both adult-themed and witty, with a fair amount of cursing thrown in for emphasis. Saturday at 8:30 p.m. Jack's Joint is located at 2950 Gulf-to-Bay Blvd., Clearwater. tampabaycomedy.com or call 727-741-8014.
