Death Grips' abrasive, near-unbearable brand of punk rap has always possessed a strange, innate beauty. The NorCal-based trio revealed a softer side with a Björk remix, and actually got an assist from the Icelandic siren on their new album. Last night in a surprise fashion that has become typical for Death Grips, the band released much of the collab for free download (via FADER).

"I am proud to announce my vocals landed on the new death grips album !," Björk wrote on Facebook, adding "i adore death grips and i am thrilled to be their “found object” ! i have been lucky enough to hang and exchange music loves w/ them and witness them grow !! epic : onwards !!"

The music comes from niggas on the moon, apparently just one half of Death Grips' upcoming double LP entitled the powers that b. A second half (jenny death) is due later this year via Harvest/Third World Records. It's pretty much as harsh as anything Death Grips has ever put out, but knowing Björk is on every track makes it that much cooler. Have a look at the tracklist and listen to them all below. A free download can be had here.

Death Grips is set to open for Nine Inch Nails and Soundgarden on Mon., Aug. 11 at the MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre (4802 U.S. 301 N., Tampa).Tickets start at $29.50. More info on the show is available here.
