Four years after Seven, 1999’s Fight Club reunited director David Fincher with Brad Pitt, progressing from a “What’s in the fucking box?” duet with Morgan Freeman to a “You do not talk about Fight Club” duet with Edward Norton.
This is the film that gives the middle finger to consumer culture while itself being a touchstone of cool for teenage boys, due largely to Fincher’s grungy aesthetic, the attractive leads, and a whole lot of violence justified as Social Commentary.
Settle in for over two hours of Pitt’s abs, Meat Loaf’s bitch tits and Helena Bonham Carter looking like skeevy hot trash. 8 p.m., Sat., Jan. 12, Capitol Theatre, 405 Cleveland St., Clearwater, $5, 727-791-7400, atthecap.com.
