The Countdown to CD13 Election Day

Tampa Bay's most publicized Congressional race in years comes to a head Tuesday.

This Tuesday, March 11, citizens of Pinellas County's Congressional District 13 will elect an interim successor to the seat held by Bill Young for more than four decades. The candidates are Republican David Jolly, Democrat Alex Sink and Libertarian Lucas Overby.

As if you didn't know. Political action committees have spent record-breaking amounts to sling mud at one candidate or another. Because the CD13 contest has national implications at a time when no other such elections are going on, it has become the most closely watched Tampa Bay political race in decades.

As it all comes down to the wire, CL News & Politics Editor Mitch Perry takes another look at the candidates, the race itself, and what it all means for the citizens of CD13 and the nation itself.
